Who would have thought the next Adult Swim animated comedy series would come from a second-rate cracker company in Bakersfield, California? If you travel to and from Los Angeles on I-5/99, you may have passed it. This is the stage of “Royal Cracker”.
“Royal Crackers” is about a family that runs a cracker company that was once the king of snacks. But after Theodore Hornsby Sr., the patriarch of the family and the founder of a tyrannical company, he ended up in what the series calls “super-coma.” Now, the rest of the less talented or business-savvy Hornsby must figure out how to make Royal Crackers the success they once were.
It was created by Jason Lewis, who has also starred in the half-hour series alongside Andrew Santino, Jessica St. Clair, and David Boal.
“Like most kids, when I was little I had the stereotypical dream of making an animated TV show about a mediocre cracker company and the desperate weirdo family that runs it. Lewis said. “In this childhood dream, I wanted to put it on linear TV and stream it on an app the next day. Thank you Adult Swim and HBO Max for making that little dream come true.”
