Spotify introduced the code in 2017 as a way to let users share music with friends and family.
Spotify Code works by generating a unique code for the track, album or playlist you want to share. When someone else scans that code, they’re immediately taken to the music and can hear the same.
How does it work and what do I need to do to use my Spotify code?
What is a Spotify Code?
The Spotify Code is unique to Spotify’s music streaming platform. It works just like a QR code, but looks completely different.
Each track, artist, album and playlist can have its own Spotify code, so there’s no limit to what you can share.
How do I access my Spotify Code?
Spotify codes are available for free and premium subscribers. To generate the code for what you want to share, you need to click on the three dots next to the heart icon for what you want to share. All albums, tracks, playlists and artists have this button as an option.
Click the three dots to see options like download (for premium subscribers), share, and more. However, at the top of the artwork, you’ll see the Spotify code below it.
How do I redeem my Spotify Code?
Once you have access to the code for the content you want to share, click the code to enlarge it. If you’re with someone you want to share content with, they can scan the code directly from her Spotify app. Alternatively, you can save the image to Photos and send it to someone to open it within the Spotify app.
To scan the code, use the camera button on the right side of the search bar in the Spotify app. Tap “Scan” and accept permission for Spotify to access your camera. You will then be able to scan your artwork from other people’s devices.
If you have sent an image, please press “Select from Photos”. Find the image in your library, open it,[選択]Pressing takes Spotify to what’s shared.
Where else can I use my Spotify Code?
Your Spotify Code does not have to be provided by someone else. Artists, record labels and brands can print the codes on promotional billboards and posters and scan them in exactly the same way.
