On Friday, February 24th, the Jonas Brothers released their new single “Wings,” their first release since 2021. They also announced their new album “The Album” which will be released in May this year.
“Wings” is a pop song with vocals by Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and Jon Bellion, who also produced the track. Instruments composed of soft synths, bass, and percussion.
The track is only 1 minute and 58 seconds long and the lyrics for 1st and 2nd are the same.
The verses start with good energy and the pre-chorus is well constructed, but the chorus, —usually the most energetic part of a pop song—is stripped of much of the instrumental, with a simple vocal melody, and the energy is significantly lower.
The bridge is probably the best part of the track, and Nick’s voice at the end of the bridge sounds like a Harry Styles vocal riff.
By the final chorus, the song fades out with techno vibes and strongly filtered vocals.
In an interview with Variety, the three brothers discussed their favorite tracks from the album. Joe Jonas said “Wings” is his favorite.
Joe Jonas said, “It may be the shortest song on the album, but I like it because it feels like a trailer for the rest of Bodywork.
After splitting up in 2013 due to creative differences, the Jonas Brothers parted ways to launch a solo career. After the split, Nick and Joe Jonas stayed in the music industry while Kevin Jonas got into the contract business.
A few years later, however, rumors began circulating that the band had gotten back together.
On February 28, 2019, a fan’s dream came true. After six years of silence, the Jonas Brothers have released a new single, ‘Sucker’. Shortly thereafter, they released an album titled ‘Happiness Begins’. Since then, they’ve relived his early 2000s days through touring and making music.
Two years passed before he released another single with Marshmallow, “Leave Before You Love Me,” in 2021.
On February 9th, the Jonas Brothers released a new single. Soon after, the band began posting small snippets of their music on social media.
Later that week, the band posted a preview of their “Wings” music video on social media. Actress and big fan of the Jonas Brothers, Haley Lou and her Richardson appeared in the video.
In an Instagram post of a clip of the video Richardson wrote, “This was the most surreal day of my entire existence. I am so grateful.”
The music video opens to a hotel room with four girls, including Richardson. The girls are dancing in the room and seem to be preparing for something.
During the song’s bridge, the girls dance to cardboard cutouts of the Jonas Brothers.
Nick asks if he wants to take the elevator up, but the girls stare at their brothers in utter shock. The girls then scream as the elevator closes and the screen freezes to black.
“Wings” represents a new chapter in the Jonas Brothers. They announced his five-day residency at New York’s Marquis Theater from March 14-18. Each night of the residency will focus on his one of their albums, in order of release. They begin with a self-titled album and end with the new release ‘The Album’.
