Who wants to watch a woman get ripped apart and cry for an hour?
There was a time when The Apprentice interview week was a sacred and special time in the series. business plan shines, Sugar’s chance to pick his two finalists. At this point, there should be five contenders, all of whom are not only deserving of accolades, but also worthy of his last two spots. But the Apprentice has proven time and time again that he’s only interested in tearing down candidates in recent years, and this year’s interview explains why 2023 will be the last time the show takes place like this again. has proved
wicked exercise
Each week of the process, the same line-up returns. Of particular note are Mike Suter, Linda Plant and Claude Littner. Claude is ruthless, but I think it’s the fairest. Mike just wanted to make a fool of people and always had silly props to poke around on the table in hopes of making someone feel like absolute trash. The worst worst woman is Linda Plant. She is so vicious that she takes pleasure in mocking anyone who comes in front of her, so at one point she must be surprised by her sheer coldness.
This year, Karen Brady joined the panel. I wouldn’t call her her Baroness, unlike her candidate, who she tried to exaggerate every moment possible. Watching Karen do an interview was like watching someone do what they think they should be: a talker ring to try and make the best impression.
The worst part of it all is when they all regroup in Sugar’s conference room and laugh at everyone like a perfectly made-up, out-of-contact bunch of people… change forever or not. As much as the show likes to treat it as a joke, it’s deadly serious for these women.
“That’s Baroness Brady for you” – but is it?
Everyone on the ground has seen the peak of funny and savage interviews from The Apprentice long before becoming shite in 2023. It was cinema when Claude Littner lured Solomon by praising his resume and annihilated him for a picture of a sailing ship in a business plan. It feels fair and barbaric at the same time, and each year it goes viral. It’s impossible not to scroll past and see.
Both the BBC and Karen Brady know this, so my theory is that she was briefed to take on her debut interview appearance, with the goal of creating moments that were equally savage and novel, Viewers tweeted live along with the episode, calling her an icon, a lady boss, a villain, and a savage. Megan took this, and the flaws in her plan were revealed faster than the tears could flow in the episode.
For one, Karen Brady has previously said that contestants should call her Karen.
If they’re all so crap, why waste our time?
This is a problem throughout The Apprentice 2023, but it’s especially noticeable when it comes to interviews. is “a terrible disgrace”.
By the time I go to the interview, I see all five of them in tears after being told they’re useless. Even as, she definitely can’t help – and we have to watch her sob in the lift.
After all the paste, getting two finalists you know you have to believe are the next oracles of your business? The Apprentice must learn that for a show to work like this, it needs successes and failures. You should mock them when they flop, but also root for them when they succeed. Watch competitive shows like drag racing. Not everyone can shit. If so, don’t waste our time trying to make them compete and give them money. I have better things to see in my time.
