    Tenacious D

    Jack Black and Kyle Gass have announced that the Tenacious D show will take place at the end of the summer, in September in Charlotte, Nashville, Indianapolis, Rogers, Arkansas, Houston, the Dallas-Fort Worth area, held in Austin.

    PJ Harvey

    PJ Harvey will release his 10th album this summer and just announced a fall tour of two nights in cities across the UK and Europe.

    Lettuce with Steel Pulse, 2/3 Brand Nubian, and more

    Lettuce’s Blue Note Jazz Club kicks off this week, with a variety of guests throughout. Thursday (6/8) kicks off with New York rap stars Buckshot (Black Moon and Boot Camp Click), followed by Friday (6/9) with legendary New York rap trio Brando. · Two members of the Nubian (Grand Puba and Lord Jammer) will appear. Form a team and play as a group. On Saturday (6/10), veteran guitarist Mike Stern joins us. No guests have been announced for the final performance on Sunday (6/11). Afterwards, Lettuce will tour the US (including Atlantic City on June 24) with UK reggae legends Steel Pulse. Steel Pulse will also perform at the Sound on Sound festival in Connecticut this fall. The brand Nubian will also have a big hip-hop 50th anniversary show at Radio City in July. All lettuce dates are here. All Steel Pulse dates can be found here.

    Nigerian Afrobeat artist Asake is fast becoming an international sensation and just announced a US gig this September, including some pretty big venues. Details of the tour are yet to be decided, but the press release says the band will play in LA, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, DC and more.

    Electric Zoo 2023

    Electric Zoo, New York City’s EDM festival, will return for its 2023 edition Labor Day weekend, September 1-3 at Randall’s Island Park. This year’s lineup has been announced.

    Social Distortion were due to start their summer tour later this month, but it was postponed after frontman Mike Ness was diagnosed with stage one tonsil cancer. “He will make a full recovery and live a long and productive life, but it will take time to heal,” said Mike Ness.

    Fiddlehead have announced their long-awaited third album and North American tour.

    Just Friends / Bearing

    Punk, funk and ska bands Just Friends and junky alt-rockers Barings team up for a fall tour, accompanied by Youth Fountain and Young Culture. The dates kick off with Riot Fest and include a New York gig on September 23rd at Racket.

    Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy / John Langford

    Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Mekons’ John Langford will share the stage and perform ‘Sing and Sing’ over several dates this fall.

    RE:SET (LCD Soundsystem/Steve Lacy/Boisenius)

    LCD Soundsystem, Steve Lacy, and boygenius are in the midst of a multi-city Re:SET show series, heading to the East Coast next weekend (June 16-18) to show at Forest Hills Stadium in New York and Merriweather, Maryland. I am planning to do Post Pavilion, The Stage at Suffolk Downs in Boston. We’re giving away an LCD Soundsystem and all three Steve Lacy shows, plus a pair of tickets to the Maryland show at Boisenius.     Re:SET East Coast

    David Longstreth (Dirty Projectors)

    Dirty Projectors frontman David Longstreth has announced a solo tour. Bing & Ruth, Crosslegged, Sen Morimoto, and Hannah Epperson are each open for part of the ‘tba d-lo tour pt II’, and David said, ‘tba d-lo is the number I’ve played. It’s the name I gave to that little solo acoustic show.” I returned to California in January. I loved this experience so much that I want to do more — maybe even in a city near you!? The show is about playing new songs, new songs, old songs, and new songs, and connecting with people and places. “I used to call it ‘tba’ because I didn’t know what it was. And I still don’t know. Let’s figure it out together.”

    Deeper / Godcaster / Mia Joy

    Chicago band Deeper just announced their first sub-pop album and a fall tour with godcaster Mia Joy.

    Brooklyn band SAVAK!, which includes members of Edsel, The Cops and Holy Fuck!, will play all their new music at a free hometown show on Thursday, June 8th at Mama Tried. The bill also includes komische SAVAK derivative bands Zwei Null Zwei and Roid Rage.

    Electric Six

    Detroit rock veterans Electric Six have finished working on their first original album in five years and have announced a fall tour with the Surfragets, though details are yet to be announced. Stops include Austin, New Orleans, Atlanta, Richmond, Washington DC, New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Ferndale, St. Paul.
