Tanya Tucker to release new album, ‘Sweet Western Sound,’ play Ryman, in June

Tanya Tucker’s road to unparalleled Music City acclaim continues with the release of her 26th studio album, Sweet Western Sound, on June 2, 2023 through Fantasy Records. Additionally, she will perform at Ryman Her Auditorium on June 3-4, 2023 to celebrate the event.

Tickets for the soon-to-be-inducted Country Music Hall of Fame dates go on sale this Friday, April 7 at 10am CT.

‘Sweet Western Sound’ is her sophomore album co-produced by Grammy Award winners Brandi Carlisle and Shooter Jennings.

It’s also her first release since 2019’s “While I’m Livin’,” and Tucker won her first Grammy Award for Best Country Album and Best Country Song for her single “Bring My Flowers Now.” Earned.

In an exclusive for The Tennessean, Tucker tells the story of sitting in a hotel suite in a Los Angeles villa filled with pianos. Her boyfriend Craig Dillingham and her Carlile texted her a song that would ideally be her first song on her new album.

She recalls hearing the song and then playing it again to get Dillingham’s opinion.

“Oh my god, I wrote this ab***h son,” he exclaimed about a song he wrote 20 years ago.

Dillingham’s song “When The Rodeo Is Over, Where Does The Cowboy Go” is attached.

It joins the album’s newly released single “Kindness”, featuring a voicemail-generated rhyme from Tanya’s hero, best friend and singer-songwriter Billie Joe Shaver, which opens and closes the album.

Shaver passed away in October 2020. “We wrote three songs for this song. One was Shooter and two were Brandy. It’s really cool,” adds Tucker.

“I can’t wait to see what people think of our new endeavor. I wasn’t sure if we would work together again on a new album after ‘While I’m Livin’, but we did. Let’s do the magic together.” I’m starting to believe her,” Tucker said in a statement.
