The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s deal with Spotify ended after the podcast she hosted wasn’t renewed for a second season.
The parting was confirmed by statements from the couple’s content production labels, Archewell Audio and Spotify.
Meghan will host the Archetypes podcast, which will run for 12 episodes starting in August 2022 and will feature celebrities, historians, experts and the history of stereotypes towards women.
Guests included tennis star Serena Williams, singers Mariah Carey and Paris Hilton, and actors Mindy Kaling and Constance Wu.
A joint statement from Archwell and Spotify reads: “Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series they have created together.”
In late 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a lucrative deal with the audio-streaming giant to host and produce podcasts worth an estimated US$25 million (about £18 million).
In December, Archetypes won best podcast at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
Meghan wrote on the couple’s Archwell website at the time:
“And I loved delving into meaningful conversations, laughing and learning together with our diverse and inspiring guests.
“It was a very loving job.”
