San Francisco, April 4 (IAS): Music streaming platform Spotify has announced that it is shutting down its live audio app, Spotify Live.
However, the company said it would continue to investigate live functionality on its main platform, reports TechCrunch.
Music Ally was the first to report the news.
“After a period of experimentation and learning about how Spotify users interact with live audio, we have decided to terminate the Spotify Live app,” a spokesperson was quoted as saying.
“We believe there is a future for live fan-creator interaction in the Spotify ecosystem. However, based on our learning, it no longer makes sense as a standalone app. We have seen promising results for the “listening” use case. We will continue our quest to facilitate live interactions between artists and fans.”
In April 2022, the company integrated the live audio capabilities of companion app Spotify Greenroom into its main Spotify streaming app, rebranding Greenroom to ‘Spotify Live’, the report said.
Meanwhile, Spotify says it is testing a redesign of user profiles, including a card-style layout that allows users to establish more social identities on the platform. Playlist blending, collaborative listening experiences, and more.
