Popular music streaming service Spotify has replaced the “heart button” with a new “plus button”. The company believes these tweaks are designed to improve the user experience, save users time, and increase engagement. In the next few weeks, the heart button will be completely replaced by the plus button. This is because it has already been rolled out to his Android users around the world.
Spotify said in a blog post about the change:
Spotify’s plus button can do everything the heart button can.
Spotify’s heart button has become an integral part of the streaming service. Users can quickly and easily save their favorite songs, albums and playlists for easy access later. Not only does it speed up the process of finding your favorite music, it also helps Spotify’s algorithms generate more accurate recommendations based on your listening habits.
Now the heart button has been replaced by Spotify’s plus button, merging these two buttons into one. This new feature will allow users to add songs and podcasts and specify playlists where they’d like to save them.
To add a song or podcast episode to your Favorites or Episodes list, press the plus button once next to the song or podcast title in Now Playing view. The plus icon will change to a green check when the track is saved.
Users can then change the playlist for that song, or tap the green check mark to remove it from their saved tracks entirely. Additionally, the plus button works with albums, playlists, audiobooks, and single tracks. Users can add albums to the “Your Library” section by tapping the + icon next to the album.
