The Swedish Privacy Agency (IMY) announced Tuesday that it had considered “how Spotify handles access rights to customers’ personal data.”
The Swedish authorities announced that “IMY has fined the company 58 million kronor because the defect was found.”
Under the European Data Protection Act GDPR, you have the right to know what data companies hold about you and how that data is being used.
“The information provided by Spotify is unclear, making it difficult for individuals to understand how their personal data is being processed and to verify whether the processing of their personal data is lawful. There was,” Swedish officials said.
IMY also said that “the overall flaws found are considered to be of low severity” and that the amount of the fine would be based on Spotify’s user count and revenue.
