This lack of action on the part of employers began to feel personal. If I interviewed you for an hour, that you “went the other way” or “picked a different applicant” before other job opportunities I was interested in passed. Please let me know. I put off applying for the job because the interview went so well. Some employers were “trying to fill the position as soon as possible”. But being the ghost of my employer wasn’t cool when I was searching for months.

Ultimately, I found a great job at a great company. People encouraged and patiently waited while they trained me to do a job that I knew little about at first. I worked there happily for many years. I was lucky that I didn’t get hired for any of the other jobs I interviewed for, but I still had a bit of a bitter taste in how I handled things after the interview.
