Dawn Ostroff, a veteran media executive and most recently Spotify’s chief content and advertising business officer, will join Paramount Global’s board of directors, the company announced Friday.
She will serve as an independent non-executive director pending a shareholder vote at Paramount’s 2023 shareholders’ meeting scheduled for May 8.
Ostroff has extensive experience in content development, multi-platform distribution and advertising. At Spotify, he oversaw the music and audio content business and the platform’s global advertising business. Prior to Spotify, he co-founded Condé Nast Entertainment, where he served as president from 2011 until 2018. Prior to that, he was president of the entertainment division of the CW broadcast network and president of Paramount’s former subsidiary, United He Network.
Shari Redstone, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Paramount, said: Her leadership, diverse expertise in content strategy, and her long track record of driving change will be invaluable as we continue to build on the success of her multi-platform strategy for Paramount Global. I’m sure it will. ”
The company also said Candice Beinecke and Ronald Nelson, who have served as non-executive directors of Paramount and its predecessor company since 2018 and 2016, respectively, will not run for re-election at the annual meeting.

With the changes announced today, Paramount’s Board of Directors will consist of 11 members, with eight members serving as independent directors.
