Pakistani singer Hamza Malik has climbed to the top of Spotify, a digital music service that gives listeners access to millions of songs.
Malik, a Lahore-based singer and songwriter, has many songs such as ‘Samjhawan’, ‘O Jaana’, ‘Pyaar Yaar’, ‘Tere Bina’, ‘Dholna’ and ‘Aye Khuda’. He sang a soulful rendition of “Aye Rah e Haq Ke Shaheedo” on National Defense Day and released “Umeed” for Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) before the 2018 general election.
Having studied musicology at the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore, Malik has released several singles and provided voices for numerous commercials and OSTs such as ‘Khidmat Guzar’, ‘Paimanay’ and ‘Bohtan’. .
Malik told the magazine that he is a “big fan of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan”. He said he made the song and got Khan on board. Khan listened to the track, liked the concept, and gave it the go-ahead. He said that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has very strong vocals.
Malik’s hit “O Jaana” marked the directorial debut of singer-turned-actor Farhan Saeed, and starred actor Iqra Aziz alongside the singer.
