A newly discovered recording of Nina Simone’s performance at the 1966 Newport Jazz Festival will be released as a live album. must learnwill be released on July 21 through Verve Records.
The late singer took to the stage at the Newport Jazz Festival on July 2, 1966 to perform an unforgettable six-song set from his 1965 album, beginning with “You’ve Got to Learn.” i put a spell on you. Another highlight of her performance was the civil rights anthem “Mississippi Goddam,” which she premiered at Carnegie Hall two years ago.
