(CNN) A train that derailed in western Arizona Wednesday night was carrying corn syrup, the railroad said.
“BNSF Rail can confirm that a train carrying corn syrup derailed,” company spokesperson Lena Kent told CNN in an email at about 7:40 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate that it contains no hazardous materials.”
The derailment occurred in Mojave County, Arizona, near the California border.
A spokesperson for the Mojave County Sheriff’s Department said the train was carrying dangerous goods.
According to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Anita Mortensen, no spills have been reported, but recent storms have washed the area.

Mortensen said the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified of the incident and is responding to an investigation.
