In one of his final interviews, Lance Reddick detailed the backstory of his “John Wick” character Sharon.
The late “Wire” alum died of unknown causes on March 17th. In an interview with New Screen His Runt released the day before his death, Reddick said that the fourth “John Wick” film would be the Continental Hotel’s connection between his manager Winston and concierge Sharon, played by Ian McShane. “John Wick: Chapter 4” is set to hit theaters on March 24th. Reddick has been confirmed to reprise the role of Sharon in the prequel spin-off series Ballerina, opposite McShane, Keanu Reeves and franchise newcomer Ana de Armas.
Reddick told Vulture that the character of Charon was inspired by Alfred in “Batman” and Hector Elizondo in “Pretty Woman.”
“He speaks very little, but his presence is huge and we had to find a way to capture it,” Reddick said in 2021.
Reddick added that co-star Reeves wrote him a note saying, “Thank you for what I brought to the characters in these films,” adding, “I will never forget it. I’m about to cry.”
Reddick’s filmography includes appearances in ‘The Wire’, ‘Oz’, ‘Lost’, and the films ‘Resident Evil’ and ‘Corporate’. Appeared in all four John Wick movies.
