King Gizard and the Lizard Wizard’s Petrodragonic Apocalypse; again, Eternal Dawn: The Demise of Earth and the Beginning of a Merciless Punishment will be released from KGLW on June 16th. A 10-minute music video for the second single “Dragon” has been released. The band’s upcoming tour dates are listed below.
In a press release, drummer Michael Cavanagh said, “Oh my sweet baby ‘Dragon’ just came out of the womb of Hell and is here at the end of a pathetic road summoned by humans.” “Turn it up, Sammy! It’s strong, it’s fast, it’s upending the natural order and looking to destroy everything in its path.
The video was directed by Jason Galea, who said, “I spent the last two months dusting off my music video computer to beat 10 minutes of ‘Dragon’.” A live visual setup with animations inspired by PS1 cutscenes and captured studio footage of the band. The animation was created in Cinema 4D and modified in After Effects and the Tachyon Circuit Bending Video Unit. ”
The band has already released the music video for the album’s first single, “Gila Monster.”
The band’s 24th album is a double LP, The PetroDragonic Apocalypse, or Dawn of Eternal Night: The Demise of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Punishment. It will be their second thrash metal album, following 2019’s Infest the Rats Nest.
In a previous press release, band leader Stu Mackenzie said, “When we made ‘Rats Nest,’ it felt experimental.” “It’s like, ‘This is music that some of us grew up listening to, but we never had the courage or the confidence to actually play it, so let’s try it and see what happens.’ And when the album was finished, we thought, ‘Why did it take so long to accomplish this? When played, it produces a special effect. So we always intended to release another metal album. ”
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will release 5 albums in 2022. These include Made in Timeland, Omnium Gatherum, Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms, and Lava, Laminated Denim, and Changes.
Mackenzie explained that the “PetroDragonic Apocalypse” album was created in the same manner as the band’s previous albums “Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms, and Lava”. “We wrote songs every day and walked into the practice room with no riffs, no songs, no ideas. We started from scratch.” I was. I outlined the story the songs would tell, which he split into seven song titles, each with an outline of what would happen in that song. I think it was recorded backwards. ”
Mackenzie described the album’s fantasy vibe as follows: “I wanted to start the story in the real world and send it to hell.” It’s a story about humanity, the world, sorcerers, dragons, and poop. ”
“I’m more of a mad professor than a tortured artist,” the musician said of the band’s future. And after a number of albums from practice sessions, we’re ready to go the old fashioned way of composing the songs before going into the studio once the album is finished. ”
