Spotify users should check out spottle, a new musical guessing game similar to Wordle but aimed at music. Spotle is similar to Heardle, a popular game that plays a song’s intro for a few seconds and then the user guesses him six times to figure out the artist and song title. Spotify will acquire Hurdles in 2022, announcing that the game will remain free for everyone. Unfortunately, the streaming platform has made the decision to shut down Heardle in May 2023.

Spotle is a daily guessing game like Wordle. This means users can look forward to new Spotles every day. Unlike Heardle, users only have to guess the artist and don’t play song previews as hints. Instead, users have to make random guesses to find the correct artist. The game is based on Spotify’s top artists, meaning users don’t have to guess obscure artists and bands. Additionally, users can get her 10 guesses. That’s more than Hurdles offered, but it’s no surprise, since it’s more difficult to guess the artist without a song preview. To play the game, users must visit Spotle’s website and enter a guess.

    Understanding Spotle Tips

Spotle Guess has six attributes, which turn green or yellow depending on the user’s answer. Attributes include debut album (year), group size, listener rank, gender, genre, and nationality. For example, if her Spotle answer for the day is Taylor Swift and the user’s guess is Dua’s Ripa, the gender card will turn green and read “woman. The group size will also turn green and read “1”, as both Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa are independent artists. Non-matching attributes such as nationality and debut album remain grayed out.

According to Spotle, debut album cards turn yellow if they’re within five years of the correct artist’s debut album. A down arrow next to the number means that the artist’s album was released earlier, and an up arrow means the album was released later. The group size metric shows the number of members. For example, if the user guessed Red Hot Chili Peppers, the group size would be 4. If the group consists of both men and women, the gender is displayed as “Mixed”.

Listener Rank is the artist’s rank on Spotify per stream. An up arrow indicates that the correct artist is more popular than the guessed artist, and a down arrow indicates that it is less popular. If the Listener Rank is yellow, it means the guessed artist is ranked within the top 50 of the correct artist. Genres displayed on Spotle consist of Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Country, Alternative, R&B, K-Pop, Latin, Classical, Jazz, Metal, and Electronic. And finally there is nationality. Again, if the nationality of the guessed artist is on the same continent as the correct artist, the nationality card turns yellow.

After the hint, let’s play. Your first guess should give you some hints. With luck, users may get green hints about nationality, gender, and group size. These cards and genres provide the perfect hints for the answer of the day. Listening rank isn’t the most useful parameter, but if the guess isn’t too far off, debut album could be the most useful parameter. Using Spotle requires a fair amount of musical knowledge, and unfortunately, even if users run out of guesses, the answer won’t be obvious for the day. However, you can see the previous day’s answer by tapping “”.yesterday‘ in the top right corner of the Spotle website.

When a user guesses the correct artist, the Spotle website displays a scorecard at the top of the screen and plays that artist’s track. Users now have the option to tap “” to share the results.share the results‘ and also select an app to share the results with. Similar to Wordle, scores are displayed as a series of rectangles. If the user guessed the answer in her 4 tries, 4 squares will be displayed. Spottle also has a “”.make a game‘ Ability for users to enter an artist name to create a custom spottle A game you can share with your friends.
