New updates added at the end of this story…
Here’s the original story (published February 28, 2023):
Spotify hits AI fever with the announcement of the launch of its new AI DJ service on February 22, 2023.
Accessible as a beta option in the Spotify mobile app, but only available to Spotify Premium subscribers in the US and Canada.
Spotify users can’t access the new AI DJ
The feature comes as a result of Spotify’s acquisition of AI voice service Sonantic in 2022.
However, some Spotify users have reported problems accessing the new AI DJ despite having a premium subscription (1, 2,3,Four,Five,6).
It’s been over a week since Spotify announced this feature, so listeners expected it to be available on their devices soon, but it hasn’t.
AI DJs play not only the latest songs, but also old favorites, and sometimes songs you haven’t heard in years.
As a result, everyone is excited about this new feature and wants to test it themselves. This desire to use AI DJ is fueled by its early positive reviews.
