This episode of the World Soccer Talk podcast features an interview with Guillem Balague and is brought to you by Sling.
Guillem Balaguer is one of football’s most famous journalists, regardless of country. Renowned for his ability to capture the emotion and personality of a match, he’s been a key part of CBS’ entertaining football coverage. And with Paramount+’s new documentary his series, now’s the perfect time to learn more about Balage.
In this interview, Balague discusses Destination: European Nights, which is currently available on Paramount+. In the six-part documentary series, the Spanish journalist travels through Europe during his UEFA Champions League campaign. World Soccer Talk’s Kyle Fansler asks Balague what it’s like to travel and see different cultures. With visits to Georgia, Israel and the sporting staple cathedrals, Balaguer understands European football better than most.
Elsewhere, Balague has spoken of a job at non-league side Biggleswade United, which sits on the ninth tier of the English pyramid. There he is the president of the club. Finally, Balague talks about his relationship with Grant Wall. Like Balague, Wahl was an influential journalist, especially in American football. The two were colleagues, and Balage stayed with Wahl until just before Wahl died during the World Cup.
