Some people are content to listen to the same radio station or playlist over and over again every time they run or hop in the car. Some people, myself included, like to discover new music every week. So my Spotify subscription is worth the price of admission. But even my Discover Weekly playlist is often filled with songs I’ve heard before. As such, the website Forgotify has been a bookmark in my browser for nearly a decade.
In fact, we included Forgotify in our list of 8 great websites you didn’t know existed in 2015. Eight years later, the website is still going strong, and with millions of new songs uploaded, it’s probably even more useful today. since then.
As its clever name suggests, Forgotify is a website that shows “partially played or not played” songs on Spotify. Just visit the website, click the “Start Listening” button in the middle of the page, and Forgotify will find songs that no one has listened to yet. Forgotify only lets you listen to previews, but if you have Spotify Premium, you can click the Spotify icon in the corner of the widget to play the full song.
Granted, there are few hidden gems, but while exploring the depths of my Spotify library, I found some really wild songs. While writing this article, I found some songs that I would never have heard otherwise. That includes her JD & The Longfellows particularly hilarious folk songs, which according to Spotify have two listeners each month.
If you’re looking for a new internet time waster, you could do much worse than Forgotify. Maybe, with any luck, you’ll discover your next favorite artist after spending a few hours exploring the wilds of his unplayed Spotify songs.
