Forestville — It’s time to focus on one thing around the halls of Forestville Central School. It’s a school musical.
This year’s Forestville school musical, The Sound of Music, runs Thursday through Saturday.
“The kids worked hard. Really.” Middle School Principal Dan Grande said: “We had a lot of help from many volunteers and other adults.”
The school board and school board members were able to view the rehearsal privately at the beginning of a recent school board meeting.
“After being away for 10 years, one thing I really missed was the musical. My wife and I are coming Thursday night, so I’m looking forward to it.” Superintendent John O’Connor said. Earlier this year, O’Connor was appointed Forestville Superintendent of Education.
The Sound of Music is a 1959 stage musical with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The musical was produced and directed by Robert Wise in 1965 and was adapted into a musical drama film. After its release, the film surpassed his $286 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film of all time. It won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
