Belinda Carlisle is back with “Big Big Love,” her first new pop single since 1997. The legendary hitmaking collaboration with her songwriter, Diane Warren, will appear on her upcoming EP. Kismet, will be released on May 12th via RAF/BMG. It also precedes a series of US tour dates (tickets available here).
An uplifting and bright production by Matty Gabriel, Big Big Love follows the overarching romance of Carlyle, who lives up to its name. “What I need,” she sings. “Someone come and knock me off my feet / Jump off a cliff and dive into something deep.” Hear the track below.
Carlyle and Warren have worked together for a long time, having first collaborated on Carlyle’s influential 1987 album. heaven on earth, featuring the classic title track. In a statement, the pop icon opened up about how a chance reunion led to a new project.
“It’s been 27 years since I made my last English-language pop record, and I thought I’d never make it again…and I was so happy with the idea,” said Carlisle. “A chance encounter at her coffee shop led to the wonderful Diane meeting her Warren and she gave us the incredible gift of this song and other songs on her upcoming EP.”
Warren adds: From “I Get Weak” to “Big Big Love,” a new chapter has begun. We can’t wait for you all to hear these new hits! ”
“Big Big Love” is Carlisle’s first English track since the animated “I Won’t Say I’m in Love”. Hercules movie soundtrack.Her last pop album was her 1996 woman and manalthough she released a French covers album (voila) and seek chant LP (Wilder Shores) since then. Most recently, she contributed to Warren’s “Gonna Be You” alongside Dolly Parton, Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper and Gloria Estefan.
