Until this week, it wasn’t necessarily common knowledge that Ben Affleck was fluent in Spanish, but now that the evidence has resurfaced, fans can’t quite get it.
In an interview with La Cadena SER, Spain’s main radio network, published Monday, the actor explains, in full Spanish, the process behind his film. air.
“The important thing to understand is that this is not the story of Michael Jordan, nor is Michael Jordan in the movie,” he began. (“The important thing to understand is that this is not a Michael Jordan story, and Michael Jordan is not in the movie.”)

Even his phrasing, word choice, and jokes reveal that he has been practicing speaking the language for years. A clip of the interview was shared on his TikTok by the radio station and, naturally, fans lost it in the comments section.
“Switching from Ben to Benito 😂😂😂,” wrote one user.
“Benjamin Affleck,” with a second joke, deep water Hispanic-sounding star names.
“But he speaks better than J Lo,” said another.
This isn’t the first time Affleck has shown off his Spanish skills. In various interviews over the years, he has surprised fans with how fluent he actually is.
But his language acquisition is less shocking. Not only is Affleck’s wife, Jennifer Lopez, of Puerto Rican descent (she was raised by Puerto Rican parents in the Bronx, New York City), Affleck lived in Mexico for three years with his mother and brother Casey Affleck. He was selected to appear in a children’s TV show.
