Drew Barrymore shares her take on Hugh Grant’s interview with Ashley Graham on the red carpet stage of the 95th Annual Academy Awards last Sunday.
During their brief conversation, which has since gone viral, Grant answered most of Graham’s questions with short, straightforward answers, causing a backlash from some fans.
The actress-turned-talk-show host, who co-starred with a British actor in the romantic comedy Music and Lyric (2007), claimed that he was only expressing himself in the interview.
“If you know Hugh, that’s the way he loves you,” Barrymore, 48, said in his defense in the latest episode. The Drew Barrymore Show.
She said, “People are like, ‘Oh, he’s so rowdy and she’s so thrown.’ No, it’s Hugh Grant.” You thought you got this charming movie star and what you got was grumpy Hugh. And you fall in love with grumpy Hugh.
The daytime talk show host said, “I’m telling you when he says that, he’s absolutely funny. He does mean one negative thing about it.” No. The real Hugh is the person Ashley Graham met on that carpet.
The Wedding Singers star confessed that when she first met Grant, it took her a while to get used to his demeanor and behavior.
Perhaps like Ashley Graham on the carpet, “Who am I dealing with?” You don’t let me love you,” Barrymore explained. “When I got to know him, I felt like I loved you. Cheerful and good person.
Graham himself responded to an awkward interview with the Sense and Sensibility star with a short response: TMZshe seemed to be taking it all in stride.
‘you know what? Mama kindly told me to kill people, so go ahead,” she told her publication.
The Catwalk Queen also made a point of giving an uncomfortable interview, revealing there was no problem or bad blood between her and Grant.
It turns out that the only pain she felt when she left the celebratory event was in her leg.
‘it was really fun. But her leg hurts,” she added.
The Love Actually actor, 62, appeared unimpressed by Graham’s series of questions during the pre-show chat.
Heading into the countdown to ABC’s Oscar show, she asked the longtime leading man what he liked about attending the Academy Awards.
After a short pause, Grant finally replied:
She also asked if she would be rooting for any of the nominated candidates. He was brutally honest, saying, “No one in particular.
The model changed the topic to fashion and asked what he was wearing.
In a last-ditch effort to save the interview, Graham asked about his cameo in the mystery film Glass Onion: The Knives Out Mystery (2022).
“Well, I’m barely in. I’ll be there for about three seconds,” he simply shot back.
“Yeah, but you showed up and had fun, didn’t you?” Graham replied. “Almost,” Grant admitted before the interview ended.
