Teen Vogue: My first reaction when I found out comment section Moved exclusively to Spotify?
Drew Affaro: It’s honestly surreal.i think it’s part [is] Because I’ve only been doing the show for a year. It’s been less than a year since he signed with Spotify. So it’s simply insane that he partnered with such a huge and influential platform as Spotify less than a year later. Unbelievable achievement… Spotify has been my main streaming platform for nearly a decade… Now partnering with Spotify and working on exclusive podcasts feels surreal is. I am very honored.
*__tv set: __*It’s amazing. It must be very exciting for you to see how quickly the show has grown and resonated with people over the past year.
and: Absolutely.caliber of [podcast] It shows that Spotify is really high. The shows they have exclusively are very top notch and very successful. It’s incredible that they saw the growth and potential in my show and that we went from scratch in such a short amount of time.

*__tv set: __*I wanted to know where the idea for the podcast came from, I knew you also had a podcast with your sister, so comment section is very different. How do you find inspiration when planning episodes and choosing who will be guests on your show?
and: the concept of Comment field was actually brought to me past bedtime Producer. They brought me some very naive ideas about what they really wanted to do, especially what worked well with me.We really worked together to grow it into what it is today. We choose our guests very carefully… I choose them, approve them, and hand-pick their topics. Each guest we have, I choose specifically [topics] For them, I feel I fit in their wheelhouse. The show also has a great educational aspect, learning a lot about other marginalized communities that people have never been exposed to before or feel validated to see represented. Representation is my show a big part of the whole. [at the] Front line for visitors.
I value expression and honesty more than choosing someone with a huge, huge platform… [that’s] foundation of the show. That’s because people can see their favorites or find new favorites on my show.
*__tv set: __*Do you have a favorite episode? Are there any special conversations that really stuck with you?
and: Leo [González] Certainly one of my favourites. Leo is he one of the funniest people I have ever met…Trixie I really loved his episode with Mattel. I have admired Trixie for a long time, [she] Very funny and incredibly talented. My episode with her was very insane. We never talked about the topic.other favorite episodes [are] With transcreator Jesse Sulli [and] Another transcreator, Antoni Bumba. My show has featured different creators with different life experiences. Thanks to that, I feel that I have become a better host, a better creator, and a better person.
Everyone’s favorite episode is the one with Brittany Broskey. Brittany is an incredibly funny person and I’m really lucky to call her one of my really good friends, she’s so hard to choose. No favorites of course. But say the first guest I started [with] Spotify rollout, once [it] Officially exclusive on April 5th… or The episode is also one of my favorites.
*__tv set: __*Give us a preview of what to expect in this new episode or any tips you can share.
and: I can say it’s the “worst” ever… we’re both island girls. And that’s all I have to say about it.
*__tv set: __*Speaking of new guests, do you have a dream guest for your podcast?
and: I would be happy if The Rock could appear on my show. At the moment I feel like I’m just doing a personal PR for him.i want him, just an expression [would be] Very powerful.I respect him as one of the only representatives [Pacific Islanders] offal [in] Mainstream media… I want Zendaya, Megan Thee Stallion, Taylor Swift. I know she doesn’t actually give interviews, but I’ve been letting her materialize for her minute.
**tv set: **We’ve talked in the past about how important your representative is to you. When did you first feel like you were in the media?
and: As far as Samoan women go, I don’t know if I’ve seen anyone, but they really aren’t. Samoa I think. woman What I saw in the mainstream media was Paris Goebel. As an incredibly talented choreographer and as a Samoan woman, I remember seeing her walking at her VMAs and her MTV movies her awards. clothes [Samoan word for clothing]—
Paris Goebel attends the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards in New York City.
*__tv set: __*oh yeah when she wore Copyright [traditional Samoan dress]?
and: yes she CopyrightI remember thinking it was the first time I had seen mainstream media on the red carpet. I have a lot of respect for her. She is another guest I would love to have on my show.or [moment] Always by my side.
tv set: it was cool to see you do the same with premier black adam, that too.
and: I really appreciated the opportunity. “This is an opportunity to express my culture in a way that I feel respects and puts us on a platform.” I had the clothes made from scratch by a Samoan tailor. She is amazing…it was an important opportunity for me and we made the most of it. I feel that it has made a huge impact on our community.
*__tv set: __*What projects are you working on now and what can you expect in the near future?
and: Absolutely! clearly, [the podcast becoming a] Exclusive to Spotify starting April 5th, it’s a dream come true. I’m currently writing a book on the Questlove imprint, which is very exciting. He started a publishing company. I am his one of the few books he chose. This is an honor because Quest is a literal genius. Working with them under his team is just too surreal and an incredible experience.
