Q: For those who don’t know, what is “Bite-sized Archie”?
Ron Cuckers: This is a very silly weekly webcomic featuring characters from Archie Comics and written with the extremely talented Vincent Lovallo who handles all the art duties. Bite-sized Archie aims to make fun of current culture, whether it’s online trends, memes, videos, he’s in games, movies, or that he lives in strange times. Did I mention it’s ridiculous?
Q: What is unique about the Going Viral Print Collection?
Ron Cuckers: The comics are published online for free every week, and most people have seen the strips that way every time they saw a comic on social media. What’s really cool about this book is that it provides a lot of behind-the-scenes look at all of the comics, including Vin’s sketches, character designs, Easter eggs, and commentary from the two of them. We want you to feel like you are having a conversation with us while you read. It’s a deeper reading experience and helps you share more information with your fans.
Q: What’s the difference between Bite Sized Archie and traditional Archie comics? What are your influences?
Ron Cuckers: The bite-sized Archie strips are only four panels long each, so you’ll have to set up a joke and (hopefully) land in a very short space. Some of the greatest Archie Comics jokes of all time are one-page gags that can still be seen in Digest today. We look at what’s happening in the modern webcomic space for inspiration and build on influence from the many great storytellers that have come before us. , I want to feel familiarity and newness at the same time.
