The musician has created a 7-track EP set for release on May 19th, making it as easy for him to work with a solo acoustic format as he would with a full band setup. His Hedges, playing at Cities & Coasts and New Preservation Society, have moved to smaller shows in recent years.
“I like doing acoustic shows and duo shows now. “It’s a lot more fun for me at this point just to write it to work as an individual song that I don’t have to rely on other people to just play and make it sound good.”
and whiskey & firelightHedges also set out to hone his recording and production skills by piecing together projects in his home studio.
He strikes out a different sound on this project, leaning towards Americana and folk vibes, inspired by his own listening habits and songwriting style. Get a taste of his folky new project with his latest single, “Take Me Home,” out on Friday, March 17th.
As for his other bands, Hedges says Cities & Coasts and New Preservation Society are still going strong. He aims to release new songs with new saves soon.
Whether solo or with a band, Hedges recognizes the camaraderie that exists in the Northeast Ohio music scene, which he’s been a part of for decades.
“I think Cleveland is the best, I really do,” says Hedges. “I’ve lived in Cleveland, Chicago, Portland and New York City, but honestly Cleveland has the highest endorsement of musicians to musicians.”
Hedging supports whiskey & firelight Several shows are scheduled, including an acoustic performance at the House of Blues restaurant on April 7th, a live streaming concert with Roots of American Music on May 18th, and a Foundation Room full band show on June 24th. .
