Carson Daly’s son gets the inside scoop and candid advice from Blake Shelton in the final season of ‘The Voice’.
Jackson Daly sat down with his longest-serving coach on the March 16 episode, “Nightly News With Lester Holt: Kids Edition,” and got to the heart of the matter with one question.
“You and my dad were on ‘The Voice’ all the time. Why are you breaking up with him?” I asked Shelton, who has appeared on
“I think you were a year old when I first started doing this show. I wanted to be here,” Shelton jokingly replied.
The country superstar, who has been with the show since its premiere, will officially leave the red chair after season 23. Shelton is the coach with the most wins with a total of nine victories.
Of what Team Break needs, the singer said, “A sense of humor and people who don’t take themselves too seriously seem to be the ones I have the most intimate connection with.”
“I think it has to be less serious to be successful in the team break,” he added.
Contestants must be 13 to be eligible to audition for “The Voice,” and since Daly is over the required age limit, what advice would he give Shelton to try out? What he didn’t expect was a complete critique from Shelton.
“What I want to tell you is that music probably isn’t your way,” Shelton quipped. For your sake, please don’t do that.”
