Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and musician Brent Cobb will release his highly anticipated new album Southern Star on September 22nd via Ol Buddy Records/Thirty Tigers.
Produced by Cobb (his first self-produced album) and recorded at Macon’s famed Capricorn Sound Studios, Southern Star captures the sounds and stories of Cobb’s home state of Georgia. A love letter to my Southern roots. Across these ten tracks featuring local musicians from Georgia, Cobb finds beauty in small moments while exploring deceptively simple themes with his signature Southern electric sound and lyrical depth.
Reflecting on the album, Cobb said: Well, I’m from Georgia. That’s why I’m always looking for the southern star. This album, the songs, the sound…it’s all a product of where I’m from, musically and ecologically. Historically and today, it has also fostered many of the most influential artists in all of music. Music as we know it wouldn’t exist without the American South. Funky and sentimental. It is simple and complex. “
To celebrate the new song, Cobb will be performing at The Parish in Austin, Studio at the Factory in Dallas, The Troubadour in Los Angeles, Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, The Bowery Ballroom in New York and The Factory in Cambridge this fall. They will be embarking on an extensive headline tour with a stop in Sinclair. , Lexington’s The Bar, Atlanta’s Terminal West, Macon’s Hargley Capitol Theater, Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl and many others. He will also be joining Luke Combs on his sold-out U.S. stadium tour this summer, as well as picking dates with Whiskey Myers and The Steel Woods this year. See below for the full itinerary.

Based in Ellaville, Georgia, Cobb released his 2022 debut gospel record, And Now Let’s Turn To Page…, which inspired Rolling Stone to describe him as an “enlightened man” in 2020. They have released four albums so far, including 2011’s Keep ‘Em On They Toes. He has a gift for finding purpose and meaning in the smallest details. Additionally, Vice declared that “still a strong songwriter” and American Songwriter “with ‘Keep ‘Em On They Toes’… we have a philosophical songwriter/artist.”
In addition to his work as an artist, Cobb is an acclaimed songwriter with Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Riley Greene, Little Big Town, Hayley Witters and Whiskey. The music is provided by Myers and others. He will also publish his first children’s book, Little Stuff, in 2021. Written as a reflection on what really matters in life, the book was inspired by the song of the same name from Cobb’s Keep Em On They Toes album.
