Spotify has reportedly canceled Meghan Markle’s podcast “Archetype” just days after the company reportedly cut another 200 people.
It was also reported that the podcast series would not be renewed due to financial difficulties.
British media reports say the decision to cut further jobs will see Spotify lay off about 600 employees and bid farewell to Dawn Ostroff, the head of the podcast that signed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s contract. It is said that it was done five months later.
Spotify has yet to confirm that the Meghan Markle-hosted podcast has been cancelled.
The podcast debuted on August 23, 2022 and featured Meghan speaking with celebrities, historians and experts about the history of stereotypes that discriminate against women.
Spotify reportedly paid more than $18 million for Meghan’s podcast “Archetypes.”
The Duchess of Sussex’s podcast has struggled to hold onto the top spot since its debut in August 2022, and by November the podcast had slipped to number 22 on the charts.
Meghan Markle was honored at the 48th Annual Gracie Awards for Podcasts.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were absent from the ceremony for unknown reasons.
