By day, he treats stroke patients with a calm and compassionate approach, but in his own time, Anthony Holt performs rock songs in front of 20,000 people.
And today his band’s single was released.th wedding anniversary.
Musician Anthony, 49, is an assistant practitioner for the Cannock Community Stroke Team and lead vocalist for Questions of Angels. The band streamed listeners from the United States, Canada, Germany, Australia, Argentina, Peru and Chile. Its latest release, Feel So Alive, is available on YouTube starting today.
Anthony’s vocals have been compared to Metallica frontman James Hetfield and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, and the six-piece Anthony released an album called From Within.
“We don’t have a lot of national streams, but the fact that people around the world are listening is great,” said Brown Hills-based Anthony.
“I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished, but I’m not under the illusion that fame will follow. It takes millions of streams and that’s our It’s a hobby.
“We have made the decision not to do gigs at this time, but our music is of good standard and we want to put it out there.
“We’ll be back in the studio in about three months, plus we’re working on the Skunk Anancy song ‘Weak.’ ”
Question of Angels appeals to all ages, from 16 to 80 who don’t like metal heads and rock.
“We’re melodic. All the choruses are impressive and you can sing along. We released the album on Wolverhampton Community Radio and it was played on several other radio stations.” he added.
Anthony’s big turning point came in 2014 when he appeared on the main stage at V Festival as one of several lead vocalists for The Neon Brotherhood.
The 40-man powerful Band-Aid-style movement reached number 16 in the UK Top 40, and a charity single called Hope Ain’t A Bad Thing raised 5.5 million for Stephen Sutton’s fundraiser for the Teenage Cancer Trust. It ballooned to pounds and was featured on Sky and the BBC. news.
“Stephen was a really nice guy, listened to the single before he passed away and gave it a thumbs up,” recalls Anthony. “Being in front of an audience with V was incredible. Dreamland.”
Anthony, who has been in the band since he was 16, has been with Question of Angels for over 10 years, writing all the lyrics and melodies the band members put to music.
This is a diversion from his day job based at the Springfield Health and Wellbeing Center in Rugeley. Anthony has worked in stroke rehabilitation for over 27 years and with Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust for 31 years.
“I do physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, speech therapy, and also nursing,” he said.
Music is a big part of the Holt family. Anthony’s schoolteacher wife, Ruth, plays the clarinet, and his youngest son, Noah, 15, wants to compose and perform piano pieces himself and learn guitar and singing. The 20-year-old eldest son, Sam, holds a master’s degree in Biological Sciences from Birmingham City University.
