Tulsa music artist Joey Frendo releases debut album

According to joeyfrendomusic.com, Friend was born in Michigan and raised in Southern roots music. After establishing his brand with an EP (“Stone Mason’s Son”), he returned with his full-length debut LP from Horton Records.

“More than anything else, I think this record tells a story we tell ourselves,” Friend said in a news release. “It captures the pieces of dialogue that we have with ourselves all the time. Life is always unfolding, we need to pay attention to details, and those stories tell us where we end up and other people along the way.” It captures how it affects how we interact with people.”

According to the release, Friends perfectly represents Oklahoma’s ever-evolving music scene, which has produced artists such as John Moreland, Turnpike Troubadour, and John Fulbright. He moved to Tulsa in his 2020 during the pandemic, shortly after he lost his mother. A major life one-two of his events inspired a new set of songs. Going back to the studio and recording for over a year proved to be a cathartic experience.

“Honestly, I felt like I was writing the best songs of my career and finally started to really understand what I wanted to be as a songwriter,” he said. I am grateful that we were able to make music together.
