From members to milestones, here’s everything you need to know about K-pop group NCT Dream.
What is NCT Dream?
NCT Dream is a seven-member K-pop boy group under SM Entertainment. Consisting of members Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenru, and Jisung, NCT Dream debuted in 2016 with the song “Chewing Gum.” The single reached his No. 2 spot on the Billboard Global Digital Song Sales chart.
This group is NCT’s third subgroup and is divided into four subgroups: NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV. And one sub-unit – NCT DoJaeJung.
Initially, the group’s concept was a rotating unit of NCT’s teenage members. After going through the graduation system, members leave NCT Dream when they reach the age of majority in Korea or when they turn 20 (19 internationally). This changed in 2020 after the group released “Reload”.
The group’s leader, Marc, “graduated” in 2018, but returned in 2021 for the release of “Hot Sauce” after regrouping. Since then, NCT Dream has remained a fixed unit.
Mark said the group has grown and developed “in so many ways” since their debut.
“I think the first thing for us was to get to know the whole K-pop system, find our identity within it, and be able to introduce it to the people around us. so it’s important to actually show the fans and audience what we’ve prepared in the meantime.”
