Screen Rant: Jeremy, great job on this movie. What was it like working with Neil Bogart’s family to talk about his more challenging side?
Jeremy Jordan: Really great. I was very lucky to have someone who knew him well.and there [were] Pages and pages of interviews I’ve done with other people in the industry. So I read them and did interviews and all sorts of digs. But working with Tim in particular was really great [Bogart]The guy I worked with was a screenwriter, and when we started working together, I could sense all the little things that his father impressed him with.
And then I started putting a little Tim into his father’s interpretation. And it’s been really fun getting him to work with his family to find that little perfect mixture of who he is.
How is your approach to playing a real person different from playing a fictional character?
Jeremy Jordan: This one was a little different. Because I’ve played a real person before this guy died in his 80’s. Not many people know him, and those who knew him are dead or very old. And there is not much video footage. So what I found was digging, really digging, but what Tim really impressed me with is that as a performer, some of his qualities are innate in me. bottom.
And he really encouraged me to follow my intuition and instincts. And often let me roll it. And it was really exciting because I felt like I was creating a character that respected the essence of this man at the same time.
What was the story of Neil Bogart like for you, the actor and singer?
Jeremy Jordan: Neil really wanted to be a performer. It was his passion and never really succeeded, finding his way behind the scenes and being incredibly successful in that respect. booked his journey, he never ended up there, but I think it’s really beautiful. was really funny, as well as the fact that he could charm anyone and essentially anything at any time.
He just had an endearing personality. A lot of the time it didn’t work out and it pissed off a lot of people, but this was interesting. I spoke with people who knew him in real life. He smoked too much. He did too many drugs.
There are so many great musical performances in this one. Which stood out as your favorite?
Jeremy Jordan: Give me redices all day, every day. I love the incredibly crazy gospel he vocals. Jason singing “It’s Your Thing” he just walked into the room and sang it live and it was actually pretty cool. A big concert was slated for his performance, they were going to cut and get him in, but he did a little recording in his studio. so they stopped doing it.
can’t believe it! What records should everyone have in their record collection?
Jeremy Jordan: The first person that comes to mind regardless of movies is Carole King. She’s my favorite record I have. She released her first solo album.
