Duran Duran He is said to be working on a new album with former guitarist Andy Taylor.
The band is said to have been inspired to work on a new album after discovering that Andy’s initial diagnosis of prostate cancer had metastasized and was declared stage 4. Taylor, who admitted to being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, has revealed his diagnosis.
In an interview with The Mirror, bassist John Taylor said: “We are working on an album to be released later this year. [Andy Taylor] I play guitar,” explained John Taylor.
“There are a lot of cover songs on the album, songs that meant a lot to us as kids. So it’s great that he’s part of that project.”
Frontman Simon Lebon first went to Andy’s home studio in Ibiza to record. The rest of the album will be completed in Los Angeles and London.

Duran Duran confirmed the news of the album in an Instagram post on Monday, stating, “We are thrilled to confirm that a special project is in the works that will be released on BMG later this year.” .
“The new recording will feature Duran Duran’s family and friends, including former bandmate Andy Taylor, who will be joining on guitar on a few tracks.”
Taylor left the band in 2006 and has not performed with the band since. He originally discovered his diagnosis five years ago, but waited until it was absolutely necessary before speaking to the public and its fans. As part of the group’s acceptance speech, I read a letter from Taylor.
“Now as to why I’m not here:
“Exactly four years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Many families have experienced the slow burns of this disease and we are no exception. I speak from the male point of view, but with deep humility: to the band, the biggest fan a group could have, and this extraordinary accolade.
“Until very recently, I was just fine, with doctors and treatment from Rogers and Edwards. My current condition is not immediately life-threatening, but there is no cure. I was fine after a very sophisticated life-prolonging treatment, until I experienced a setback about a week ago. I had to be honest about what I was pushing for.” Read the rest of the letter here.
