To add even more authenticity to the BeReal experience, Spotify partners with social media platforms to provide in-the-moment listening updates. This collaboration aims to help users connect with like-minded individuals who share similar musical interests.
Spotify has revealed that it will be integrated with photo-based social media platform BeReal. BeReal encourages users to take a photo of her at a random time once a day to share the “real version” of themselves with their followers. The integration will allow BeReal users to add their current Spotify listening his activity to posts, making sharing their musical tastes more seamless. This new feature promises to bring diversity to BeReal users’ posts and provide a more engaging experience.
There are two ways to merge your Spotify and BeReal accounts. The first option is to click the music icon that appears before you share your BeReal post. The second option is to go to Settings within the BeReal app and select “Music” to complete the setup process. BeReal users can easily follow these prompts to connect to their Spotify account and share their current listening activity with their friends.
After successfully linking your Spotify and BeReal accounts, capture BeReal and the app will automatically detect the song or podcast currently playing on Spotify. Cover art for audio you share from Spotify will appear at the bottom of BeReal’s camera lens, allowing you to hear a preview of what others are sharing. This integration takes your BeReal experience to another level by adding a dynamic soundtrack to your photos, letting you express your personality and mood beyond just the visual aspect.
According to the company’s blog post, “Spotify was built for everyday inspiration, discovery and interactive moments. It’s designed to capture those moments and share them with your closest friends.Combining Spotify audio with BeReal adds another layer of authentic personalization and connection to BeReal.”
The BeReal and Spotify integration is now available for users on both Android and iOS platforms in several markets including the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Brazil. The company plans to expand this integration to more countries soon to bring new levels of socialization and increased engagement to users around the world.
Despite the potential benefits of integrating Spotify and BeReal, the success of this collaboration remains unclear. According to a recent report, BeReal’s daily user count has fallen 61% from its all-time high, dropping from 15 million in October to less than 6 million in March.
BeReal’s popularity skyrocketed last year as it introduced an innovative approach to social media, giving users a more authentic photo feed compared to the curated aesthetic associated with Instagram. The app’s success has led various social media platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok to compete to replicate its functionality and take advantage of the trend.
