Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez Dungeons & Dragons: Thief’s Honor
Screen Rant: That’s How You Make Dungeons & Dragons movie. i loved it! Can’t wait to bring my family. By the way, I think my friends and I are doing a D&D campaign based on this movie.
Michelle Rodriguez: Oh, that’s great.
Chris Pine: Good. it’s a rad. what do you mean?
Now that the group is assembled, it’s time to start playing. I’ve never played it, but this movie got me hooked.
Chris Pine: Oh, radical. That’s what I think is so cool about it. I think people have this idea that Dungeons & Dragons is for kids.but there was a moment [when] Somebody likes to play Werewolf, and whatever the name of the game was, I figured I’d just get a big group together and have a few drinks and just play this game. have a good time.
Regé told us what you guys played, but it felt like an impromptu class to him.
Chris Pine: I think that’s what we learned when we played. I’m not a big gamer. As a kid, I failed at playing things like Zelda. So I thought I was going to be miserable in this match. But actually, the purpose of this game is acting. It’s the same thing. What are the stakes? what’s happening? what is the context? And you just pretend and I love it.
You’ve captured all of that on film, and it’s been a lot of fun. Chris, your character really supports the team in the story. Can you tell us about your character’s motivations and how you balance comedy and tragedy?
Chris Pine: This is all credit to John and Jonathan, and one of the big questions I brought into the film is tone. It may get lost. But I think they were on the cusp of exactly what I was interested in.; they enjoy it, but it’s not very cool for school, so to speak.
I’m a painter, I come on set and start throwing shit, and it’s not my job to tell me what’s good or not. It’s the director’s job to reduce it a little and increase it a little more. So I put myself in the hands of the boys and, essentially, like any great dramatic or comedic thing, you really play it. you are joking you’re not kidding Play according to the situation and let the chips fall everywhere.
Michelle, you really capture the energy of your characters who are both bard and barbarian. Did you do your own research on those D&D characters or purely from the script?
Michelle Rodriguez: It’s all in the script. As Chris said, I think John and Jonathan did a really good job. And they did a really good job rounding it off. It’s a really good balance of humor and heartfelt, and it’s all there in a little bit, so I followed suit, and she’s obviously more physical, so let’s bring her body there. It was made. he’s a man with words
