JAIPUR: City police commissioner Anand Kumar Srivastav said on Tuesday that notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoy did not give interviews from Jaipur.
Srivastav said Bishnoi was brought to Jaipur from Bhatinda Central Jail on 15 February and was under custody at the Jawahar Circle police station until 1 March.
On March 2, the accused was transferred to Jaipur Central Jail, and on March 7, police forces took him back to Punjab. On March 8, Bishnoi said he was transferred to Bhatinda Prison.
According to Srivastav, Bishnoi spent 20 days in Jaipur, 15 days in the police station and 5 days in prison.
“His hair and beard were long in his first interview on 14 March, but when we brought him to Jaipur his hair was short and he had a trimmed beard. We obviously couldn’t have done that interview from Jaipur,” he said.
Srivastav also said the gang’s second interview on March 17 was not recorded here.
“I would like to assure you that Lawrence Bishnoy’s interview, which aired in two parts on the news channel, was not filmed in Rajasthan. He was brought from Bathinda to Jaipur on a production warrant,” he said. added that Bishnoy did not give any interviews during the 20 days he spent in Rajasthan.
Srivastav said Bishnoi was transferred under high security and under the supervision of senior officials. “He was transported from Bathinda to Jaipur and put back in a high security system. The whole transport was videotaped,” he said.
