In the aftermath of the Jan. 6 violent attack on the Capitol, YouTube suspended Trump’s channel on its platform. He said he violated the company’s policy against inciting violence.
The ban came after he posted a video in which he said a speech he gave at a rally with supporters before the attack was “perfectly appropriate.” At the time, YouTube did not clarify whether the ban was permanent.
Facebook and Twitter also suspended Trump’s account after the siege of the Capitol, but both have reinstated Trump’s account in the past few months.
According to YouTube, YouTube was planning to lift Trump’s channel restrictions when its Trust and Safety team confirmed that the risk of real-world violence was decreasing. The company said it could reimpose the ban if there were more violations.

Advocacy group Accountable Tech found that hundreds of Trump posts on Truth Social violated the community standards of most social media companies. The group said Trump released a video on its site on Friday falsely claiming the 2020 election was stolen and that the Jan. 6 rebels should be released from prison.
“Trump’s online behavior has become even more dangerous since he used social media to foment a violent insurgency against the U.S. government,” Nicole Gill, executive director of Accountable Tech, said in a statement. increase.
