During sentencing hearings, KC Judge Nicholas Dean did not speak to defendant Pottinger. The judge said Pottinger must have no illusions about the weight of his conviction, describing it as a “serious crime.” He added that it was inevitable that Mr. Pottinger would face lengthy detention or imprisonment.
Who is Shiloh Pottinger?
Shiloh Pottinger, 20, stabbed Luke O’Connor with a 13-inch “Mafia stiletto” blade. He is the son of a rapper and a musician himself under the name OSU. The Daily Mail reports that Pottinger and O’Connor, both friends, broke out in an altercation while walking home with two other friends in the Manchester college district.
One of his students, Charles Robertson, walked past Pottinger with his skateboard and asked, “Can I do a kickflick?” He reacted violently and unpredictably, attacking Mr. O’Connor, the victim of the incident.

CCTV footage shown to the jury showed Pottinger hitting O’Connor in the head with a skateboard before the skateboard flew out of his hand on a second hit. Mr. Pottinger then threatened Mr. O’Connor with a flick knife, and the two shoved each other into a physical altercation. However, the situation quickly escalated, and Mr. O’Connor was stabbed multiple times in the body by Mr. Pottinger during the brawl, causing serious injuries.
Disturbing footage presented in court revealed that the altercation was violent and intense, and ultimately left the victim with life-changing injuries.
Prosecutors in the case against Mr. Pottinger allege that Mr. Pottinger fled the scene of the attack on Mr. O’Connor, disposed of his skateboard and jacket and washed his clothes to avoid detection. Despite his efforts, however, Pottinger was arrested by authorities two days later. Police were able to recover the murder weapon used in the attack, a bloody knife that Pottinger allegedly bought online.
