Colorado Springs, Colorado – On Tuesday, USA Swimming and longtime partner Phillips 66 announced the four cities that will make up this year’s Make a Splash Tour.
Phillips 66 offers Make-A-Splash tours in Houston (May 1-3), Lake Charles, LA (May 4-5), St. Louis and Roxana, IL (May 14-16), Montana Visit Billings. (May 23-25) Raise awareness about the importance of learning to swim.
The USA Swimming Foundation is the charitable arm of USA Swimming and Phillips 66 have worked together for years to promote water safety and education. Her 15th year of the Make-A-Splash Tour takes USA Swimming Foundation ambassadors and Olympic medalists Rody Gaines, Karen Jones and Elizabeth Basel to cities across the country to discuss the importance of swimming as a life-saving skill. , educate children, parents, communities and civic leaders.

Drowning kills about 3,500 people each year, nearly 25% of them children under the age of 14. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Formal swimming lessons can reduce that risk in children by 88%.

In 2021, the USA Swimming Foundation partnered with US Masters Swimming to create lasting generational impact by supporting youth and adult swimming learning programs under one umbrella. Her 2009 study in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine found that if a parent doesn’t know how to swim, a child in that household is only 19% likely to learn how to swim. Additionally, according to the CDC, more than one-third of her American adults are unable to swim the length of a pool.
Since 1973, Phillips 66’s contributions have supported the U.S. swimming community through national championships, international competitions, publication of sports development materials, and many other endeavors. The Make a Splash Tour, which the company has sponsored since the inception of her program in 2009, is a natural extension of Phillips 66’s dedication to safety.
