‘Uhaw’ by indie band Dilaw tramples Blackpink, set Spotify record in PH

Baguio-based indie alternative band Dilaw set the 2023 Spotify record for the most streamed local song in the Philippines in 24 hours.

The group’s melodic single ‘Uhaw (Tayong Lahat)’ surpassed the number of streams of Blackpink’s ‘Shut Down’ and Joji’s ‘Glimpse of Us’ in less than a day in the Philippines, and went global in Indonesia, the US and Australia. Got attention.

Kita consists of a core duo of vocalist and lyricist Dilau Obrero, guitarist Vi Viloria, drummer Tobi Samson, bassist Wayne Della Rosa, guitarist Leon Altomonte and keyboardist En Altomonte. The six-piece band is thrilled to achieve significant achievements together.

For the past three weeks, “Uhaw (Tayong Lahat)” has remained at number one on Spotify’s Top 50 Philippines chart. After gaining a huge audience with Viral Hits Philippines, Spotify further expanded the band through its editorial playlist ecosystem and was featured on Tatak Pinoy and magmuni-muni.

The band’s popularity showed no signs of slowing down, eventually making it onto Spotify’s Hot Hits Philippines list. It’s clear that more listeners are discovering Dilaw’s musical talents, as his Spotify follower count increased by over 200% in the past month.
