tribe friday Hemma has released a music video for the new single “Swimsuit” from their 2nd album “Hemma”.
Mastered by Stephen Marcussen (The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Cher), the 80s-style iridescent track touches on survivor’s bouts of guilt and introspection. Backed by a galloping beat, the music video sets the stage for an explosive chorus that conveys the pent-up frustration that arises from loss, pent-up anxiety and regret.
Blurring the line between dream and reality, the evocative vocals, combined with the fantastical visualization of losing a loved one, create a heartfelt cathartic release with their signature bubblegum emo charm.
“This video expands on some of the song’s themes such as survivor’s guilt, unhealthy relationships and addiction. I love how Benjamin, Clara and Carl interpreted and brought these ideas to life. We’re usually hesitant to entrust creative control to others, but I don’t think we could have found a better fit this time around. Bonus points for actually eating the pop jello cake with a straight face.As you can see from the video, it’s very impressive.” – Noah Deutschmann (singer/guitarist)
Merging the rugged indie-rock dancehall sound of early 2K with the bliss of Generation Z post-pandemic party vibes, Tribe Friday is a band of guitar-playing emo kids in the woods of Sweden. Their repertoire consists of upbeat songs that speak of self-deprecation, identity, confusion, love and death, underpinned by irony, wit and charm.
