No one can blame you if you give up Spotify HiFi is becoming a thing of the past.it’s been 2 years from first announcementAll hope is not lost, however, as the streaming service recently confirmed that it is still working on its high-res audio tier.
This news comes from the co-president of Spotify. Gustav Söderström in an interview (opens in new tab) On TheVerge’s podcast, decoderConfirming the existence of HiFi was the only blunt answer he gave as the rest of the answers were vague at best. According to Söderström, the reason tiering has taken so long is because “the industry is changing, [Spotify] I had to adapt”, but I won’t elaborate further. He hints at the cost of his HiFi and treats music labels as his two main contributors to delays, but doesn’t elaborate further.
Söderström continued, Spotify wants to do something “unique” with HiFi, saying “[doing] what everyone else is doing.” When asked about the expected release date and support for spatial audio, Söderström remained tight-lipped. There will be “his HiFi lossless-type experience for Spotify” in the future, but that’s all the co-president wanted to reveal.

It now features a vertical discovery feed as a way to encourage people to check out the latest songs and popular podcasts. There is also Spotify that incorporates OpenAI technology. New DJ features Simulate a real radio DJ. These additions are nice and all, but Users Really Want the TikTok Experience and generative AI? From what we’ve seen, no.
The platform seems more interested in expanding its media library than offering HiFi. Spotify grows podcast content exponentially Along with real-time transcription. The audiobook feed also has a new preview feature that allows users to listen to the book for five minutes before purchasing it. All this and, at least for the foreseeable future, still no hi-res audio. We asked Spotify if he could tell us more about his HiFi levels. I will update this story later.
