BIG RAPIDS — Reed City and West Michigan local band The One Divided will host two other bands for their album release party on May 6th at the Sawmill Saloon at 1003 Maple St. Debut album “The Spark” will be released.
An album release party featuring Venom of Virtue and Wolfbite is meant to promote ‘The Spark’ and the local music scene.

Guitarist and producer Kyle Dent said the Sawmill Saloon was a musical epicenter that had kept the local community of musicians in one area, and was also where the band played their first show.
“The Sawmill is the perfect place to accommodate those people and help the music community at large strive in this area,” he said.
According to Dent, the band’s sound specialist and who runs his recording studio, SoundSwitch Studios, the recording process for “The Spark” was a very do-it-yourself experience.
“We recorded relatively quickly. We’re all pretty happy,” he said.
According to Sturdavant, the band had to make do with what was available when it came to recording.
“All the songs were recorded in my basement. We had a very limited budget for quality recording space, but despite this, everything worked out,” says Sturdavant. says.
The band prepares to release a new single, Agents of Chaos, to promote the album release and party.
“I think it’s almost a relief. We need to make sure,” Sturdavant said.
Dent said he has a lot of emotions surrounding the release of the band’s debut album.
“We are all excited and a little nervous,” he said. “It’s very exciting, but there are a lot of elements in it. Especially in this day and age, musicians have to wear different hats.”
Dent said the band has shared responsibilities of spending as much time on the guitar and mixing board as on the computer, working on social media, creating a website and promoting the album.
“It’s nerve-wracking, but it’s also rewarding. I’m looking forward to putting all the angst from the release of this album into the live show without spoilers. I put a lot of work into the live performance. It’s going to be a great show.” would,’ he said.
Dent said he expects pounding drums, screaming guitars and grimacing vocals.
“Even if it’s heavy, everyone is welcome. We want everyone to know that it’s free and will be a great social experience for music in the region,” he said.
The album release party will kick off at 8pm with performances from Venom and Virtue, followed by Wolfbite at 9pm and The One Divided at 10pm.
