Ahead of the ‘Speak Now’ re-release, Swift’s ex-boyfriend and ‘Twilight’ star Taylor Lautner joked about the impact the album’s breakup song will have on him and other rumored subjects.
The sad ballad “Back to December” has long been thought to be about Lautner. But the actor seemed unfazed by walking down memory lane.
“I think it’s a great album. Yeah, it’s a relief,” Lautner said in an interview with Today. “Praying for John.”

The “John” in question is John Mayer, whom Swift dated when she was 19, most likely when he was 32. This age gap was the subject of the poignant “Speak Now” song “Dear John.” Don’t you think 19 is too young/I loved you so much, but to be at the mercy of your dark and twisted games?”
Lautner enlisted the help of his wife, Taylor Domme, to put a comical twist on Mayer’s reference. On May 17, Ms. Dom posted a TikTok video of Ms. Lautner, showing her husband kneeling and holding hands in prayer as “Dear John” played.
The caption of the video read “#prayforjohn”.
