Halifax County high school students recently attended AspHIRE: Mock Interview Day at the Southern Virginia Center for Higher Education in South Boston.
During the event, students participated in mock interviews with local employers and participated in work readiness workshops on topics such as talent and benefits, communications, and LinkedIn. Students also enjoyed a catered plate lunch and had the opportunity to network and apply their business etiquette skills.
Employers and event volunteers were impressed with the students throughout the event and commented on how well they were doing.
“It was great to see the students already ready,” said Crystal Stovall, president of the Virginia Commission on Employment. This is a really good opportunity for them to progress, gain more experience and learn how to prepare for interviews and improve their interview skills.”
The AspHIRE: Mock Interview Day is held annually at the Southern Virginia Center for Higher Education in partnership with the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville.
