Washington (CNN) Stormy Daniels is “absolutely” happy to testify at Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial, she said in an interview with Piers Morgan, an adult movie star.
Daniels told Talk TV’s Morgan, “Having them call me up and put me in the stands legitimizes my story and who I am. I feel like I’m hiding something,” he said. interview aired on Thursday. “And people automatically think, ‘Oh, she can’t be a good witness, she can’t be trusted.'”
“So if you were asked to testify, would you be sure to testify?” Morgan asked Daniels.
“Oh, of course,” she replied.
Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 felony criminal charges of falsifying business records in Manhattan criminal court on Tuesday. Prosecutors alleged the crimes were committed as part of a plan to cover up money paid to Daniels in the days leading up to the 2016 election.
Mr Trump has denied the allegations. Daniels has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
In an interview that aired Thursday, Daniels also believes Trump shouldn’t serve prison time if he is convicted. Sentenced to one year and up to four years, Trump could be sentenced to probation if convicted.
“As far as my case goes, I don’t think his crimes against me deserve jail time,” she told Morgan.
And explaining how she felt when she saw Trump in court on Tuesday, she told Morgan:
“And no one should be untouchable. Whether you are president or not, it doesn’t matter what your job description is. You must be held accountable for your actions.” Just as it should be,” she said.
Daniels had not testified before a grand jury investigating the hush-price system, but said in 2021 that he “would love nothing more” to be interviewed as part of the investigation.
Daniels said at the time that her attorney was in contact with investigators in Manhattan and New York and had met with them on other matters. When asked to speak to investigators or a grand jury, she “tells me everything I know,” she said.
She wrote a tell-all book in 2018 that graphically described the alleged incident, and a lawyer at the time said the book was intended to prove her story about having sex with Trump to be true. said.
Daniels told Morgan that the threats made against her by Trump supporters are now “more specific and graphic” and far more serious than before.
“They’re much more passionate. I think that’s a better word. They’re keen on their threats. And they’re not hiding. And they really feel like they’re doing something right.” They’re patriots,” Daniels said.
“Now they’re doing it like a suicide bomber. They really… deep down in their souls, feel like they’re doing the right thing,” she added.
Part of the change, she said, is that the people making the threats are using real phone numbers, emails and social media accounts rather than anonymously.
