Texas police have disputed the accounts of widely interviewed bystanders about the May 6 shooting that killed eight people at an Allen shopping mall.
Steven Spainhauer has spoken to numerous local and national news outlets about his experience filming at Allen Premium Outlets.
The man said he got a call from his son, who worked at an H&M store, and drove to the mall.
Spain Hauer said he believed he had arrived at the store before law enforcement and found several people shot.
“I was too injured to do anything,” he told NBC affiliate KXAS. “I found a four-year-old under a woman and took a four- and five-year-old around the corner. There was nothing I could do.”
“I never imagined 100 years later that I would find myself in a position of being a first responder on the ground, caring for people,” he added in an interview with CBS News. She said, “The first girl who approached was crouching with her head in the bushes, felt her pulse and pulled her head to the side, but she had no face. “
The Allen Police Department (APD) said in a press release on Friday that it had conducted a follow-up interview with Spain Houer and determined he was “not a credible witness to the incident.”
“Spanish Hauer arrived between 3:44 and 3:52 p.m., but was not the first to arrive, nor was he on the premises during the shooting,” the ministry said in a statement. He said.
“Mr Spain Houer did not perform CPR or provide first aid,” the APD added, referring to various allegations about the man’s experience that had been circulated in the media. “Mr Spain Hauer didn’t move his deceased mother who was protecting her living child.”
A Texas man responded to police in a Facebook post, Law & Crime reported.
“I have seen the Allen Police press release regarding me. I am hurt and disappointed,” Spainhauer wrote.
“Rather than target what I did or didn’t do, perhaps the Allen police were already on the scene why it took them 20 minutes to arrive in front of the H&M store with the injured victim. Maybe you can explain it to me. I got there.”
